The earliest hollywood cinema movie cameras were strapped immediately on to the mount of their tripod or alternative support, with only the crudest kind of levelling equipment provided, in the manner of the still-camera tripod heads of the hollywood period. The original film cinema cameras were thus effectively motionless during the course of the shot, and therefore the very first camera movements were created by fixing a camera on a moving car. The earliest documented, well before cinema or hollywood, of these was movie shot by a Lumire cameraman from the back platform of a train departing Jerusalem around 1896, and by 1898 there were ,amy more cinema movies shot from moving vehicles, Hollywood was beconing. Although categorised under the general heading of -panoramas- in the sales catalogues of the time, those movies shot directly forward looking out from the front of a railway engine were specifically described as -phantom rides-.
Back in 1897, Robert W. Paul inventeed the original notable rotating camera mount manufactured to be placed 1on top of of
on} a tripod, so that he could follow the passing parade of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in one uninterrupted cinema shot. The attachment had the camera set on a vertical setting which was moved using a worm gear driven by rotating a handle, so Paul distributed it on public sale the subsequent year. Movies made with such a “panning” head were also referred to as -panoramas’ in hollywood listings of the very first decade of cinema.
The standard pattern for early movie studios in Hollywood was provided by a studio that Georges Mlis built in mid- 1891. The studio had a glass roof and three glass walls constructed after the model of vast studios for regular photography, it was also fitted with thin cotton cloths that were stretched below the roof to diffuse the bright ray of the sun on sunny mornings. The delicate overall light devoid of real shadows that this construction produced, and which also exists naturally on moderately overcast mornings, was to become the standard for cinema film lighting in hollywood movie studios for the next few years.
Unique amongdt all the short hollywood cinema movies shot by the Edison studio, that recorded parts of the shows of variety performers for its Kinetoscope cinema viewing machines, was The Execution of Mary, Queen of Scots. This depicted a person adorned as the queen putting her head on the execution block in front of a small group of bystanders in period dress. Kodor Electronics gives a boost to the digital cinema initiative today with the release of the KodeKey Professional Zip Platform for Windows and Mac OS X computer systems.
Movie studios are expected to make wide investments in digital cinema upgrades in 2009 following a ten-year research and development period starting with the 1999 digital release of Walt Disney Pictures Bicentennial Man. Digital films are packaged and distributed using an industry standard specification called the Digital Cinema Package (DCP). Part of the DCP specification is the digital film MXF container that can range in single file sizes of 60GB to 500GB. Today, digital films are delivered by hard drive or satellite data transmission using fulfillment services from companies like Technicolor, Kodak, and Deluxe. Legacy celluloid reel manufacturing and distribution costs movie studios up to $1500 a print per theater. Digital distribution provides a dramatic drop in initial distribution investment for movie studios but has proven to be a bit costly due to hard drive delivery and expensive satellite rental time. The cost savings reserved from digital versus celluloid distribution is planned for investments into digital projector upgrades for theater vendors by the movie studios.
Delivering a system with an average per film distribution cost of $70, the KodeKey Zip technology is an online powered zip format that replaces the internal data storage of a traditional zip file with the cloud storage infrastructure of the Amazon Web Services S3 platform. By using an upload and download manager, the format can manage hundreds of gigabytes of data in a zip file less than 1 kilobyte in size per movie.
Optionally, the format can create 1,344,000-bit password certificates to add additional access protection as an accessory to KDM encryption keys sent to theater vendors to unlock playback rights for MXF containers.
Broadband delivery of digital films has been a challenge in the past due to poor TCP connections and poor designs of online storage servers required to handle single file sizes above 5GB. KodeKey Zip has been tested and approved for up to 1TB of single file archiving validated by rigorous 12-mode hash string calculation certification.
“KodeKey Zip has been designed to easily deliver 300GB digital films as an e-mail attachment to thousands of theaters simultaneously”, says inventor and Chairman William G. Blanchard, “We are honored to work with the digital film initiative and look forward to provide support to the digital movie industry worldwide.”
If you are looking for a superior sound system for your home cinema then a wireless system is something you should investigate. The name really says it all with these types of systems as the main differential is that you can set up your home cinema without the need for bulky wiring. But before you go ahead and invest in one there are a few pros and cons that need to be investigated.
The predominant reason why people love this type of system is the fact that it is wireless. When you are trying to set up your home cinema system it can be very frustrating to be limited by the design layout of your room. In order to achieve the best sound quality, speakers need to be a distance away from each other, however having extension cords and wiring draped around the floor not only looks unsightly and messy it can be a safety hazard. Having a wireless sound system gives you total freedom as to where you can place your furniture to achieve the best effect. The system can also easily and quickly be packed away out of sight if you need to.
The main reason people invest in a sound system is to create a great audio experience and a wireless home cinema is much more likely to give you this. Superior clarity of sound is achieved through the use of bluetooth and infrared which are top of the line technologies that produce a smooth transfer of data to the speakers.
The benefits of a wireless home cinema are huge but like most thing in life there are a drawbacks as well.
One of the things that may put this type of system out of reach for many is the cost. Because of the use of such up to date, state of the art technologies the cost can end up almost double of that of a more standard design that uses wiring attached to the speakers.
A factor that some people may not be aware of is that there can be some interference to the wireless connection and this is generally caused by other wireless things you may have in you house. The interefence can cause the system to generate a poor standard of sound or malfunction althogether. This disadvantage sounds more damaging than it is however as the problem can be fixed by simply taking the other device out of the room or switching the system off and on again.
It is important that you consider all the advantages and disadvantages of a wireless home cinema before you go ahead and purchase one. That way you are guaranteed of making the best decision for you and your family.
In the not too distant past, watching a film was a proper social activity, with the only possible way of doing so being to actually go to the cinema. However with the introduction of technology that is constantly being developed, it seemed inevitable that this would not remain the same.
Firstly, there were VCRs, yes that’s right, though they are obsolete now there once was a time when these were the height of technology and allowed consumers to rent, buy or even record films and view them in the comfort of their own homes. Then followed DVD players – these gave us better quality and eliminated the hassle of rewinding and fast forwarding and it was good, but it seemed there were still factors missing if you were to truly replicate the -cinema experience’.
The huge screens provided at the cinema were undeniably an essential factor in the experience, and certainly the TVs available when VCRs were around would have paled in comparison. Not only did the TVs have smaller screens but the speakers were also of poor quality and issues with the screen sizes and aspect ratios also proved to be problematic.
Nevertheless, all of this outdated technology, though left behind, has proved to be an essential stepping-stone for what was to follow, the home cinema. Yes, it seems that now the technology is available, more and more people are opting for the home cinema experience, transforming their living rooms into movie theatres. Watching films at home does seem to have its advantages; for instance, it’s often quieter and more convenient than going to actual theatre. So, what do you need to set up your home cinema system?
1)Though it may seems obvious, a good starting point is a large television. When you see a film in a theatre the screen envelops your field of view, allowing you to become completely emerged in the film. A TV with a big screen will help to imitate this. 2)Having a high quality telly is also essential. At the cinema we are always presented with huge high definition images, the detail and clarity allows for a greater sense of realism. Also, if a large screen provides low quality images it will accentuate the poor quality of the picture. 3)Finally, we come to the sound side of the system. Although it may not seem like it is of great importance, in actual fact a good sound system can really help to bring a film to life. When watching a film at the cinema,, the sound propagates from numerous places. The music, sound effects and dialogue do not just come from the screen but completely surround you. Surround sound and surround panning can really put you -inside’ the movie by creating a 3 dimensional soundscape.
If you’re looking for a new TV to start your home cinema with, why not try looking online for Panasonic LCD TVs and Samsung LCD TVs?
The period often correlated with modern Indian cinema is supposed to have begun in 1970’s when commercial cinema came forth as a means of recreation for the general public and this continues with the contemporary Indian cinema today. Although directors like Govind Nihilani, Shyam Benegal and others kept the flame of artistic movies alive, the commercial cinema surpassed the artistic cinema by leaps and bounds.
The influence of mainstream movie industry kept on increasing in 1980s and 1990s. With the release of movies like Tezaab, Maine Pyaar Kiya, Kayamat se Kayamat Tak and Chandni in 1980’s and Darr, Baazigar and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge in 1990’s, the trend of romantic cinema held ground. Such romantic movies told emotional love stories of young couples who after many adversities get married and stay happily ever after. Some of these romantic movies were very big hits and broke box office records.
The trend of romantic Bollywood movies continued in late 1990’s and early 2000’s with the release of hugely popular movies like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Interestingly, the art cinema re-emerged by late 1990s as many movies including Traffic Signal, Chandni Bar and Satya received good critic reviews. These modern Indian movies were a refreshing change at the time when uninspired romantics were the order of the day and they proved to be memorable experience for the viewers.
Numerous movies with big budgets including Veer and Mein aur Mrs Khanna were not well received, and surprisingly, DevD and other small budget movies have done well. This has lead to fresh and unique stories being favored among the Bollywood producers and directors.
The present trend in the Indian movie industry is to try new themes and storylines. Movies like Three Idiots and My Name is Khan have experimented with new subjects and have been hugely successful. The modern Hindi movies are bringing in a fresh new experimental wave of cinema, which is being more than welcomed by the Indian cinema audience.
